Solu
Turning tone therapy into a quiet, shared digital experience

The brief
Solu was translating a tone-therapy system into a consumer app. The experience needed to feel alive and communal without resembling a music player or burying the act of listening beneath product controls.

Confirmed project outcome
The redesigned Solu app shipped.
The final direction replaced a confusing social layer with a quieter listening experience, supported by tested flows, an interactive prototype, and a developer-ready design system.
01
Make listening the interface
The product was not an album player. Sound needed to feel living, intentional, and connected to what happened on screen. The redesigned experience centered on a direct invitation (Touch to listen) with responsive color and motion tied to the act of starting a stream.
Timers, reminders, onboarding, and subscription flows were organized around getting people into that experience with as little friction as possible.
02
Let testing remove the noise
Early concepts used chat to make a listening session feel shared. Documented user testing showed that chat was consistently confusing, while the product's simplicity was the quality people praised most.
We removed chat, reduced the number of choices on the home screen, and made the menu secondary. The product communicated connection through presence, visual response, and a shared stream instead of another conversation feed.
03
Design the complete path to a calm moment
The work covered onboarding, passwordless login, subscriptions, the live stream, saved timers, reminders, profiles, support, and the states around loading, success, and recovery.
Waverly Lab delivered the user flows, high-fidelity screens, interactive prototype, components, typography, and color system that carried the redesign into production.
